  THE SKIN SAGS
As we age, the first thing we notice is that our skin begins to sag. We go from firm and tight skin to lose and drooping skin, almost as if there is too much skin hanging from various places of the body. Our faces are firm in our youth, with just the perfect amount of pull, but as we age, the skin begins to soften. This is because it is no longer properly supported, resulting in the appearance of excess skin sagging around the face and jaw.
Why and how it occurs
We gradually lose elastin and collagen as we age. These are the fibrous connective tissue elements that are responsible for keeping our skin taut and are supporting tissues. As we become older,
we lose about 1% of the quantity we have in our bodies per year. In other words, as we age, the symptoms of collagen and elastin loss become more obvious, resulting in increased skin drooping.
